49th Birthday

I celebrated my 49th birthday on April 18, 2013.  It was a quiet day for me.  I took the day off from work.
I spent the afternoon in prayer.  I prayed from 1-4pm.  It was something I wanted to do for awhile.  It was good for me to do this.  An extended time with the Lord is valuable on many levels.  First it separates us from the world which we as Christians need more than we realize.  As the world becomes more dark and the evil continues to increase our walk and time with the Lord becomes increasingly important.  Our time with Him becomes extremely important in my opinion.
Second it refreshes us and renews us.  Even though I felt tired that afternoon and even so in the middle of it, my spirit really got deepened and recharged.  It focused my spirit with His and allowed me to pour out myself to Him.  He met me on several levels which was great.  I interspersed worship in amongst the prayer time.  Much of my time was spend waiting upon Him and letting Him direct my time.  My physical posture was also different.  Sometimes I sat, other times I stood.  I kneeled many times and even prostrated myself on the floor before Him.
Third it prepared my heart for the days to come.  We live in a dangerous world.  The challenge spiritually is to not give into fear and let the world, especially the media guide our thinking.  We have to be vigilent about our Christian worldview so that we can be ready to share the gospel.  When we are not afraid we are able to minister Christ's love to others who might be afraid.  Let us be ready in season and out of season to share Christ's love and His amazing story of redemption to a world which desparately needs eternal life with Christ.

Boston Attacks

Enjoy the below video by Freddy Washington.

Also I share this scripture and thoughts that the Lord was bringing to my spirit in various ways before the Boston attacks and continues to do so.

Mark 13:32-33.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

May we watch and pray so that when these things happen we will not be surprised. Also we do not have to fear death as believers as these will continue to happen and will increase as time goes on. May we pray for this whole situation in Boston. That many will come to know the Lord and that God will use this evil ultimately for His good.  May we draw ever closer to Christ ourselves so that we can be ready with the message of the gospel to people that God will place in our paths.  God is building his kingdom and it is a privilege to be apart of this at this time in history.
In Christ,
Jonathan

He Is Risen!

Today Christians all over the world celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the grave.  He rose after being in a tomb 3 days after he died for the sins of mankind on a cross.  The resurrection is miraculous and signifies that Jesus Christ conquered death.  He appeared to His disciples and others for a period of forty days after which He ascended into heaven.  He now sits at the right hand of Father God and is in constant prayer for His church.

Quote of the Day

Every day above ground is a good day.  Make the best of today!  We are not promised tomorrow.

Happy Friday!

Well today is Friday.  It is another sunny day here in New York City.
It has been a cold winter which I like.  Spring is starting out cold as well but each day is still a blessing.
I hope you have a blessed day and weekend.

Who killed Jesus?

Today in our small bible study group at work we asked the question who killed Jesus?

Yes it was the high priests that demanded his crucifixion and the Romans who provided the materials for the crucifixion, the crown of thorns, the cross itself, the nails and the place for the sacrifice.  And yes it was also Pontius Pilate who had the authority to release Barabbas or Jesus.  Yes these things were all involved in the process.   But it was the sin of mankind that killed Jesus and Father God allowed this to happen so that mankind, you and me can have a relationship with Christ that allows us to have eternal life with Him in heaven.  Let us remember as we approach holy week the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ accomplished on our behalf.
